Package Type

Introduction

The Package Type master setting allows you to define the various forms of packaging used in your logistics operations. By standardizing package types (such as Boxes, Pallets, or Crates), you ensure consistent data entry during shipment creation and provide accurate dimensions for vehicle capacity planning.

  5. Save the Configuration Click the Save button in the top right corner to add the new type to your master list.

Notes / Best Practices

  • Standardization: Use clear, universal names for package types to avoid confusion between different warehouse locations.

  • Active Status: If a specific packaging material is no longer used, toggle the status to "Inactive" rather than deleting it to preserve historical shipment records.

  • Descriptions: Include typical dimensions or weight limits in the description field as a quick reference for data entry operators.

  • Global Access: Once saved in System Settings, these package types will be available globally across all DMS modules, including the Shipment and Delivery sections.
